A Veteran’s LinQ to Life Journey with Dr. Goswami

Six-year US Marine Corp veteran Rodger always took pride in leading an active lifestyle, which included walking his dog and going for bike rides. He also supported his wife of 41 years as she battled Parkinson’s disease. However, Rodger faced a series of his own that put a strain on his active lifestyle and caretaking abilities.

After multiple attempts to find the root cause of his pain and countless failed attempts to find relief, Rodger decided to visit Dr. Amitabh Goswami at California Pain Consultants. Together they determined that the SI joint was the root cause of Rodger’s pain. That’s when Dr. Goswami introduced Rodger to the LinQ procedure and helped him get his life back.

Rodger Faces a Series of Health Issues

Rodger was well-acquainted with pain after breaking his back, suffering from a slipped disc, and being involved in an auto accident. While he was able to recover from his sustained injuries, pain became a regular part of his life.

After his auto accident, Rodger suffered from chronic hip pain. He underwent surgery to rebuild his labrum and started physical therapy. However, his pain persisted. Rodger was forced to stop physical therapy when he began to feel pain in his lower back and groin area.

It was around this time that his wife was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and Rodger quickly stepped in to become her primary caregiver. Unfortunately, his pain made doing simple everyday tasks such as making breakfast, walking his dog, and even sitting down difficult. He considered hiring someone to help him take care of his wife, but he was not ready to give up his role as her primary caregiver just yet. Instead, Rodger decided he needed to find a way to manage his pain.

Rodger Seeks Help From Dr. Goswami

To find relief, Rodger visited Dr. Goswami, who was able to provide him with much-needed answers. Dr. Goswami discovered that Rodger’s SI joint was the root cause of his pain and offered to help him find relief with the LinQ procedure.

After receiving his LinQ implant, Rodger was finally able to start living pain-free. He can now exercise daily, ride his bike, and walk his dog without pain, thanks to LinQ. He is also able to continue being an active caregiver for his wife.

What Is the LinQ Procedure?

The LinQ SI Joint Stabilization System is a minimally invasive technique for relieving and often eliminating pain caused by SI joint problems. After a comprehensive examination, a single LinQ allograft is inserted into the SI joint to assist with long-term stability.

Furthermore, LinQ takes a posterior approach away from major nerves and blood vessels to minimize the potential for problems. This allows patients like Rodger to experience a quicker, safer, and more comfortable recovery.
