Dr. Buchanan Helps Woman with Chronic Back Pain in Her LinQ to Life Journey

Linda always took joy in living an active and healthy lifestyle. When she wasn’t spending her time working on boats, she could be found going for walks throughout the neighborhood with her two dogs. However, when her back pain became too much to bear, Linda sought the help of Dr. Patrick Buchanan at Spanish Hills Pain Management, who introduced her to the LinQ SI Joint Stabilization System procedure.

Chronic Pain Affects All Areas of Life

At first, Linda thought her symptoms were due to age and work-related wear and tear. However, her SI joint was the true source of her pain. She had been suffering from debilitating symptoms of SI joint dysfunction for four years, and as time went on, her pain began to take its toll on her physical and mental health.

Linda could no longer clean her house, feed her dogs or even stand for more than 10 minutes without experiencing intense pain. The only relief she found was from lying down, which meant she spent most of her days in bed.

“[The pain] affected all areas of my life,” stated Linda. Unable to participate in activities outside of the house, she began to feel isolated, taking a toll on her mental health.

Linda Begins To Seek Treatment for SI Joint Dysfunction

Linda knew she had to do something to regain her quality of life but wasn’t sure where to turn. For years, she tried physical therapy, SI joint injections, radiofrequency ablation (RFA), and pain medication, but nothing gave her the long-lasting relief she was looking for.

Her pain began to cause severe emotional stress, which only made her symptoms worse. That was when she soon discovered the LinQ procedure from Dr. Buchanan.

Linda’s Life-changing LinQ Procedure

Once Linda underwent the LinQ procedure, her life began to change for the better. She woke up from the procedure expecting to be in pain, but to her surprise, the pain never came.

“There was no incision pain. It was the most comfortable surgery I’ve ever had,” said Linda.

Following the procedure, Linda began to notice less pressure in the SI area. She felt taller, could breathe better, and was able to regain her mobility. Her body was finally beginning to feel like it was hers again.

One year later, Linda is still noticing the positive effects of the LinQ procedure. She is now able to walk and be independent. Since the procedure, she has lost over 40 pounds and can now take care of her dogs, clean her own home, and even work on boats again.

What Is the LinQ Procedure for SI Joint Pain?

The LinQ SI Joint Stabilization System provides patients with a minimally invasive option to reduce or sometimes eliminate pain associated with SI joint dysfunction. After a comprehensive diagnostic process, a single LinQ allograft is placed in the SI joint to help provide long-term stabilization.

In addition, LinQ is an outpatient procedure that takes a posterior approach away from major nerves and blood vessels to reduce the risk of complications and allow patients to return to their normal activities more quickly.
